The Dream Says He Made $15 Million Off Rihanna&8217;s &8220;Umbrella&8221; and Gave His Ex Wife Christina Milian Writing Credit on Justin Bieber&8217;s &8220;Baby&8221;

The Dreamhas obviously made some serious dough after writing hit singles for big name acts likeBeyonce,Mariah Carey,Justin Bieberand others.

But none of the checks he&8217;s received from his skills as a songwriter compare to the $15 million the med producer/hit-maker banked following the success ofRihanna&8216;s hit single&8220;Umbrella,&8221;which he co-wrote withJay-ZandTricky Stewart.

The Dream, who also professionally goes by his government nameTerius Nash, made the big money revelation while talking to UK radio personalityTim Westwoodjust before the Holidays.

&8220;That record is probably somewhere around $15 mill,&8221; he said in the interview, where he also confessed that he &8216;gave&8217; his former wifeChristina Milianwriting credit on Justin Bieber&8217;s&8220;Baby,&8221;you know &8230; just to be &8220;generous.&8221;

He went on to joke: &8220;I&8217;m just trying to pay the bills, man. I got child support bills, I got old wives&8217; bills, I got new wives&8217; bills. I&8217;m working on my third wife, so I gotta pay those bills.&8221;

Speaking about the night he wrote Bieber&8217;s mega hit &8216;Baby&8217;, The-Dream explained: &8220;I was in my building at Def Jam and my friend Chris Higgs who was A&R-ing the project at the time said he wanted me to write a song for Justin Bieber.

&8220;I said, &8216;OK. You pay for my hotel room and I&8217;ll write you a record&8217;. He was like, &8216;No, we&8217;re not paying for your hotel room&8217;. So I was like, &8216;OK, I&8217;m not going to write you a record&8217;.&8221;

He added: &8220;So I guess everybody thought about it for a while and then they were like, &8216;OK, we&8217;ll pay for your room&8217;. My hotel room is usually $3,200 per night, but my percentage for hit-and-miss is pretty high, so I was like, &8216;Just pay for it&8217;.

&8220;I went to the studio that night and made the beat and the melodies. I let Christina Milian try the first verse melody and basically finished the track.&8221;

Asked if Milian tried to claim a credit for the song, the producer replied: &8220;She didn&8217;t have to claim anything. I gave her a percentage of it.&8221;

Questioned on whether she got the credit because she wrote the melody, The-Dream quipped: &8220;No, that was just because I&8217;m generous.&8221;
